Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to hear my story.
I grew up in Canada, and spent my summers in solitude, playing in peaceful forest scenes much like the one above. I was fortunate to have this silent time, to reflect and ponder many questions.
Ever since I can remember, I've been curious about the bigger picture - what is our purpose here on this planet, why are people still suffering in spite of civilization's advancements, and what can be done to help? Luckily, someone listened to my questions. My Grandmother. When I was 12 years old, she handed me a little book about Buddhism. She said: "First, change yourself. Then the world will change." I studied the little book carefully and attempted to eliminate my desires. And quickly abandoned that idea! Over the next couple of years, I read different yoga treaties, comparative religions, and tried various techniques for 'enlightenment'. But these methods of concentration and contemplation didn't seem to get me anywhere far. Then, when I was 16, I read a Life Magazine article about the Beatles in India. They were studying Transcendental Meditation under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. (http://www.tm.org/) I knew this was the technique I sought and began the practice. Two years later, I went overseas to experience and learn everything possible about this effortless technique. To this day, I enjoy twice-daily TM practice and the benefits of living a relatively stress-free life with greater awareness--recommending it as the best thing anyone can do for his or her self, and the world. I returned to my native Canada, and taught meditation for several years during the '70's. Then I moved to the U.S., to attend university, and received a master's degree in education, got a job, married, and gave birth to two children. I worked as an assistant director for a private school, and cared for my family at home. All this time, my intuition was steadily growing. I found I could merely look at someone and perceive what was going on in his or her personal life. Occasionally, past patterns/past lives that contributed to their present karma would be revealed to me. And upon occasion, I was blessed with communication from departed souls, friends or relatives of the individual, offering information necessary to help heal. But, being the daughter of an engineer, and married to one, I stifled this emerging side of myself and continued living like an every day adult. Until one of my daughters had a febrile seizure. Her fever skyrocketed to 107 F. Hours later, when she regained consciousness, her answers to the medics' questions were muddled and incorrect. She didn't know who she was. My initial fear of "Will she live?" suddenly became "Will she be a vegetable?"
Today, thank the Lord, she is a bright, vibrant, and fun-filled girl. And amusingly mischievous.
But this experience changed my way of thinking. I quit my job and focused on really being there for my family. Wishing to find alternative and preventive health methodologies so we wouldn't have to experience such a crises again (her third actually), I studied Reiki, an ancient technique of natural healing that is offered either in person, or from a distance. I love this healing experience, and she hasn't suffered more than a few minor colds since. A few years back, I got the call to make this service available to others. Not only do I feel blessed with this knowledge and experience, and enjoy the energy flowing through me, but see positive results without my taking on another's karma. (In previous experiences, I'd often walk away with someone else's pain!) It is my great joy to be here and offer you whatever service I may render.
