Reiki offers vital energy to help promote the healing process, but no guarantees
can be made as to cures. Although Reiki is a powerful healing tool, it should

counseling.. WHAT IS
REIKI?
Reiki (ray-key) is a
natural technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes
healing. It is an ancient "laying on of hands" healing technique,
rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui (1865-1926) and brought to the West by Mrs.
Hawayo Takata (1900-1980). The word 'Reiki' is a Japanese word representing
UNIVERSAL LIFE ENERGY, the energy within and around all of us. When Reiki is
activated and applied, it accelerates healing of body, mind and spirit.
Recipients repeatedly experience feeling relaxed, greater balance and
wholeness. Reiki is not a religion. It adheres to no doctrines or creeds. The
practice of Reiki is simply tuning in to the life force energy that resides
within each of us, and everywhere in creation, and enlivens this healing energy.
Reiki is being offered in hospitals as it has been regularly noted
that patients receiving Reiki often recover faster. It shortens healing time,
reduces pain and stress, and helps create optimism. It can also be used to help
individuals through transitions times, including grief. Reiki is not massage, nor is it based on belief or suggestion. A Reiki
session is performed by a Reiki Practitioner using specific hand positions.
Universal healing energy flows through the practitioners hands to enliven the
clients own healing energies. The person giving the energy is simply a vessel
for the energy to pass through them to the client. Reiki is never sent, it is
drawn from the client. Our bodies have an innate intelligence that is far
superior to anything we can possibly imagine or manipulate. Wherever the energy
is needed, it goes. Another unique aspect of Reiki is that practitioners are
never drained in the process, for they too are treated as they give treatment.
Reiki is respectfully offered. During a light-touch Reiki session, the
client is fully clothed while comfortably resting on a massage table or seated
in a chair. The treatment enlivens greater balance to mind, body and spirit, is
stress-reducing and provides a very relaxing, peaceful experience.
Reiki is a natural, healing energy that is transmitted through the hands
of a qualified Reiki practitioner. It can be offered in person, called
'light-touch' or 'hands-on' Reiki, or over distance, referred to as 'distance',
